Starting a series of Quick Tips, posting roughly every Wednesday. Let me know your ideas on Quick Tips that I can write about. Eventually, there will be some photo examples. These will be just small ideas and parts of a big Jigsaw to make a good photo.

Closer to the lense bigger it is

Thus, if you are being photographed and you decide to point your handheld prop or gesturing with your hand towards the camera, it will appear larger. Terms such as “it’s foreshortened” relates to this tip.

It does not matter if you (the subject) near or far from the camera. But the relationship of what’s being pointed/extended towards the camera.

Note- Not mentioning depth of field or foreground/background blur is also related, but this will be touched on in another Quick Tip.
