Eyes follow the Nose

I can’t remember who I have gotten this tip, Sorry – “Photographic Keystones” from. Most likely Sifu Scott.

To keep a more natural look in your photos, the Eyes follow the Nose, so the direction of where your nose is pointing should be the same direction where your eyes are looking. If you need to look up in a corner, you naturally would pivot on your neck to look up. Rather than, just moving your eyes to the corner of your eye socket to see.

This helps with the whites in the eyes. As I prefer to have the whites balanced within the iris. This does not apply to undead or supernaturals.

In saying all this often “thinking” or “acting cute” you would move your eyes to an upper section in the socket or look up at 45… as in anime characters. But there’s often a head movement that goes with the direction as well.

This tip was my most repeated posing direction over Wellygeddon/Overload 2021 weekend.
